In the heart of the Norfolk Broads

Bure Valley Cycle hire is based in the picturesque village of Coltishall, next to the famous Bure Valley narrow gauge steam railway.

Bure Valley Cycle Hire - Bike at lower common

Why not explore all that this beautiful area has to offer by bike? From Coltishall Station you can access the permissive foot/bike track which runs alongside the railway line. Enjoy miles of traffic free easy cycling, with the added bonus of spotting the steam trains as they power past you.

Turn left from the station and visit Buxton, with its impressive Mill, maybe take a detour to Oxnead Church. Next is Brampton, then carry on to the market town of Aylsham and beyond to Blickling Hall or Marriott’s way cycle path.

Turn right on the track and head towards Hoveton and Wroxham, the heart of the Norfolk Broads, with the hustle and bustle of the boats and birdlife.

Or head towards the river green in Coltishall itself, enjoy a drink or fantastic food at one of the 4 pubs or the 2 cafes in the village!

There are so many options of routes to take, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

The Cycles

We have a range of Specialized Hard Rock mountain bikes, with front suspension, ideal for exploring the local area. The tyres have been filled with “Goop”, which instantly repairs should a puncture occur. Helmets are available free of charge if required.

Minimum height of riders:  Approx 127cm roughly 8 years and over.

Enjoy traffic free cycling adventures

Explore the 9 mile stretch of the council owned Bure Valley Railway path without having to cycle on any roads. Remember a bygone era with steam trains passing right beside you.

Please be aware that if cycling to Aylsham, the railway passes through a tunnel underneath the A140. The path goes above and requires a crossing of the A140. This can be a very busy road with fast traffic, please take care!!
